Targeted and effective prevention depends on a number of factors, in particular it is important to identify the target group. For men and women with immigrant backgrounds, prevention has to be approached in a different manner. Even though safer sex practices are the same for everyone, the way the subject of sex is broached, the approach to safer sex education and methods of warning of the dangers of HIV and Aids differ according to the country of origin. HIV/Aids prevention work in Germany has to take account of these differences. The film "Pick it up – Prävention von Migranten für Migranten" (Pick it up – prevention by immigrants for immigrants), is a good example of how to go about prevention education in immigrant communities.
