WHEN YOU TAKE A TRIP...
... then you can experience something! – At worst a bad surprise with regard to your health. In many travel destinations (especially in the south) we are not only more susceptible to diseases, but the medical and hygienic standards are often lower than in Germany.
Comprehensive information about the region you intend travelling in is indispensible (available for example from the foreign ministry). You should also discuss your travel plans with your doctor. A good travel insurance is a wise investment.
The Garden Team has put together a comprehensive travel pharmacy. Not everything listed here is necessary for everyone and some people will require special medicines, but this list should serve as the basis for your own personal checklist (check below).
Travel Pharmacy:
Not all symptoms that can occur are necessarily related to an infection. The journey itself or the climatic conditions at your destination can be enough to produce symptoms. That's why you need the following in your hand luggage:
– a medication against travel sickness
– a mild tranquilizer (e.g. if you suffer from fear of flying)
– sun block cream and water sterilization products (depending on your destination)
– disinfectant
Falling sick while on vacation
An upset stomach caused by a different diet or lack of hygiene can make traveling very uncomfortable. Health factors can also play a role. To be on the safe side you should consider taking the following medicines with you:
– painkillers
– antiseptic cream or solution against infections
– anti-diarrhea tablets
– nausea tablets
– electrolytes (against salt deficiency)
– anti allergy tablets
– a cream for insects bites
– eye and ear drops
– nose spray
– thermometer
– medicine to alleviate fever
– anticonvulsant agent
Danger of Injury
Injuries can also be a factor while on vacation. Your medicine chest should contain:
– gauze bandages
– band-aid and adhesive tape
– elastic bandages
– a small pair of scissors
– rubber gloves
– tweezers (e.g. to remove splinters)
Desire on the Road
As vacation affairs can never be ruled out, one item should never be missing:
Condoms!
The Garden Team wishes you an enjoyable vacation!
